Imprint is the new name for the Woolwich Print Fair now it’s moving to a more central location in Westminster (the RHS Vincent Halls). It’s the major event for independent printmakers showing alongside specialist galleries. It will run 29th October-1st November
This year 6000 prints were submittedfor the curated section . Luckily, two of my ‘Cathedral ‘ series were selected for the exhibition by a distinguished panel .This series has been created slowly, over a number of years; each piece is meticulous, detailed work and takes time.
Here is my version of the West front of Exeter. Close observers may notice that I have used a little artistic license. What led me to embark on this project is a particular fascination for Gothic sacred buildings and a profound respect for the craftsmen who built them centuries ago. We are very priviledged to have such an amazing legacy.
I like to print the edition myself on Somerset archival paper and to hand-colour each impression to capture the texture of the ancient stone. Though the edition is large, each and every print will be a unique piece.
I would encourage you to visit the exhibition if you can; there will also be talks and demonstrations. If you can’t get to the exhibition, prints will be viewable on-line.
